 This 2008 Kansas rifle season kicked off last week and there have been some big deer killed so far,I have been hunting with my daughter helping her fill her tag with one of these big kansas whitetails,Saturday morning 12-6-08 we got to the stand and it was about 28 degrees with a north wind at 10-15mph It was cold!But it didn't take long for the first deer to come our way it was a year and a half old buck feeding in the corn field,We watched him for awhile and around 7:30 a few does joined him in the field,We ended up not seeing any other deer that day but she is being patient because she knows they are there!On the evening of the 10th we were back in the stand and we got to see a 150incher come by but she had no clear shot as he skirted us using the hedge trees to keep him covered and safe,She wanted so bad to shot him but she did the right thing when she told me she  had no clear shot at him and didn't want to wound him.We will be back out this weekend and with a little luck maybe she will get her buck and maybe a crack at a doe.
