SECOND ANNUAL BENEFIT
BASS TOURNAMENT
The Cass County Elks Lodge, located in Harrisonville, MO works closely with the VA Hospital in Kansas City, MO to provide day to day and relief supplies to our Veterans that are either in the hospital or routinely visit the hospital for treatment. This also includes the homeless Veterans division that is tied to the hospital. Over the last year and a half, the Lodge has donated over 700 pounds of coffee, thousands of razors, over a thousand books, hundreds of toothbrushes and toothpaste, over 700 pairs of socks, and hundreds of t-shirts. The Lodge purchased supplies for the local schools, which used the supplies to make lap blankets and other comfort items for our Veterans.
The money to purchase these supplies comes from various fundraisers held throughout the year. The biggest fundraiser is the Bass Tournament, which will be held this year on Truman Lake/Long Shoal Marina on August 28, 2010. 100% of the net proceeds go to towards the purchase of supplies for the Veterans. This tournament is open to the public. Last years tournament had 32 boats and paid four places, with first place taking home $1,300.00. If we can double the number of boats this year, the winner will take home $2,100.00.
